A Rush of Jetlag to the Head

In a place as fast-changing as Singapore – where people, shops, buildings, even beaches – come and go, it’s good to know that some things we can count on, no matter what.  For example:  It will be hot and humid tomorrow, and the day after that. The MRT will always run, with military punctuality. Orchard Road will be a nightmare on Sundays.  And, a 1980’s soundtrack will greet us every time we step into any supermarket here (because nothing gets the grocery-dollars flowing like a dose of Phil Collins).  So imagine one’s confusion when suddenly, without warning and under cover of darkness, the soundtrack to our domestic drudgery disappeared…
